Smart Paddock

Smart Paddock is an Australian owned company developing smart ear tags and related IoT sensors for the livestock industry that provide real-time information about the health and geo-location of all the individual animals in the herd. The ear tag, dubbed the Bluebell, attaches securely onto the ear of each animal, and monitors the animal’s temperature, behavior, and geo-location/mobility, which the farmer can easily read from a web dashboard or mobile phone app. The Smart Paddock platform will provide them with real-time alerts when any of these metrics significantly change, indicating an issue in the health of the animal, or if the animal crosses any geo-fences set up by the farmer. These alerts will significantly improve the wellbeing of animals, as early detection is crucial to the recovery from illness or injury. The tracking capability will decease time for mustering, reduce loss due to stray animals and assist the pedigree and provenance management of the herd.
