Virtual fencing is more than just the collar. This field day explores what it takes to make virtual fencing work on farm.

Visit two working farms near Gunnedah and see how virtual fencing and other livestock Agtech are being put to work — from managing cattle and grazing to monitoring livestock weights, water and farm infrastructure.

Whether you're looking seriously at virtual fencing or want to know what's possible with livestock Agtech, it's a chance to see it for yourself, ask questions and think about what could work on your farm.

What to expect on the farm tour

This isn't just a day of presentations. You'll get out on farm, see live demonstrations and hear from the farmers, suppliers and specialists working with the technology.

At 'The Park', see a live Halter collar fitting in the cattle yards and learn how virtual boundaries can be used to manage where and when cattle graze. Local Land Services will take a closer look at pasture health and regeneration, and how more flexible grazing management can help manage grazing pressure, protect feed and give pastures time to recover.

You'll also see Farmbot remote monitoring technology in action, including how producers can remotely keep an eye on water and farm infrastructure and receive information and alerts without having to physically check every site.

Then we'll head to 'Windy Station' at Pine Ridge, where virtual fencing is being used at a much larger scale. With around 500 cattle fitted with Halter collars, hear how the technology is being used on the property and what they're learning from the data.

Optiweigh will demonstrate its in-paddock livestock weighing technology, which allows cattle to be weighed while they're out in the paddock. See how producers can track liveweights and weight gain without having to bring livestock into the yards each time.

See Halter collars up close during a live fitting demo and learn how virtual boundaries can help manage livestock and grazing. Then see what virtual fencing looks like with around 500 collared cattle at Windy Station.

Join Local Land Services to look at pasture regeneration and how managing where and when livestock graze can help protect feed, manage grazing pressure and support pasture recovery.

Watch how cattle can be weighed in the paddock and how liveweight data can help producers keep track of livestock performance.

See how remote monitoring can help producers keep track of water and farm infrastructure and reduce the need for routine manual checks.

2.30 pm - Depart 'Windy Station' for 'The Park', then continue to Gunnedah
Around 4.00 pm - Arrive back at Gunnedah Visitor Information Centre

Driving to The Park? You can leave your vehicle at 'The Park' and catch the bus to 'Windy Station'. The return bus will drop you back at 'The Park' before continuing to Gunnedah. Please indicate when registering if you would like to use the bus.
